This is the website of Patricia Buckley, an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist and Accredited member of the IACP

This website offers information on my counselling services based in Clonmel, South Tipperary. The purpose of this site is to outline what counselling and psychotherapy is and some of the issues that a person can benefit from addressing in therapy.

I provide professional and confidential counselling to clients in South Tipperary and the surrounding counties of Limerick, Kilkenny, Waterford and Cork.  I work collaboratively with people who feel that counselling will provide them with the space to explore and resolve or come to terms with issues which are currently preventing them from living a balanced and full life.

“Each person is an island unto himself, in a very real sense; and he can only build bridges to other islands if he is first of all willing to be himself and permitted to be himself.”

Carl Rogers, On Becoming  a Person

The Freedom to Be in Counselling
Counselling offers a safe space to be yourself and explore your needs and wants as you go forward.

What is Counselling?

We all have a desire to be content with who we are in the world and the lives we lead. Counselling provides a medium through which a person can explore distress or difficulties with a caring, genuinely attentive and non-judgemental professional. The counselling room offers a safe space for you to express your thoughts and feelings in confidence and feel that you have been truly heard.

Talking openly and exploring problems offers a person the opportunity  to develop insight and awareness. With the development of understanding and awareness, counselling enables an individual to identify choices and changes they would like to make.  The therapeutic process allows a person to access and develop their strengths and resources.  It empowers a person to more confidently cope with change- or live more effectively with those things that cannot be changed. A counsellor can offer support in times of transition or crises and/or in the longer term facilitate the search for healing or meaning.
